The assessment

Where is the time going?

Every question below is a real situation you'd recognize. Answer them honestly, including the ones where the honest answer isn't flattering. Nobody sees this but me.

  1. 1
Tell me if you sell products, provide a service, or both. That decides which parts of the twelve below even apply to you.
  2. 2
Sixteen to twenty-four quick questions, covering only the parts that apply. About five minutes. If one still doesn't fit, say so and I skip it.
  3. 3
I pick the four areas your own answers flag as the worst. You get the final say on the four before we go further.
  4. 4
Sixteen more questions on those four areas only. Another ten minutes or so.

Then I read it. Not a model, me. You get back a written report on where the hours are going and what's worth doing about it. Takes a day or two.

Do you sell products, provide a service, or both?

One thing to settle

Your answers put these dead level, so you get to break the tie.

What I would look at

These four came out lowest.

Straight from your answers, nothing guessed. If one looks wrong to you, swap it. You know the business.

    Last bit

    Your setup, and your details.

    What you're working with

So nothing I suggest depends on kit you don't own. No wrong answers here.

Phones and tablets What's in people's pockets day to day.
Computers What the work actually gets done on.
Where the files actually live Not where they're supposed to live — where you'd genuinely go looking. Pick as many as apply.

    Sent

    Thanks. That'severything I need.

I read every one of these myself, so give me a day or two. If something needs checking before I write it up, I'll email you.
